PRODUCT INFO

The composition of Tropic Sunda wax is formulated to provide optimal traction and performance in the surf, allowing you to shred the surf with confidence.

Extra hard wax is ideal for warmer waters and high humidity locations as it provides a more stable and durable grip on the surfboard. It resists melting in the sun and maintains its consistency in higher temperatures.

HOW TO APPLY TROPIC SUNDA SURF WAX

Materials Needed:

Tropic Sunda Surf Wax (choose the appropriate type for the water temperature)

Basecoat Wax (optional)

Wax Comb (for creating grooves and removing old wax)

Cloth or Rag (for cleaning the board)

Steps:

Clean the Surfboard:

  • Start with a clean surfboard. Remove any existing wax using a wax comb. Scrape off the old wax, and make sure the surface is clean and smooth.

Apply Tropic Sunda Basecoat Wax (Optional):

  • Some surfers choose to apply a basecoat wax first to create a foundation for the topcoat wax. This step is optional, but it can enhance the overall grip.

Choose the Right Wax:

  • Select the appropriate wax for the water temperature. Harder waxes are suitable for warmer water, while softer waxes are better for colder water.

Start Waxing:

  • Hold the wax firmly in one hand.
  • Rub the wax on the board in a diagonal or circular motion, creating small bumps or beads of wax on the board.
  • Cover the entire area where you plan to position your feet while surfing. This is typically the middle to the back of the board.

Adjust the Pressure:

  • Apply more pressure for the initial layers to create a rough texture.
  • Once you have a base layer, reduce the pressure to apply subsequent layers more evenly.

Create a Pattern:

  • Some surfers prefer to create a pattern with their wax, such as diagonal lines or circular shapes. This can help improve traction and ensure an even application.

Add Extra Wax for Traction:

  • For areas where you need extra traction, like the tail, apply more wax to create a bumpier texture.

Finishing Touches:

  • Use the wax comb to create grooves or comb the wax in a specific pattern if desired. This can enhance the grip of the wax.

Clean Up Edges:

  • Use the wax comb to clean up the edges and remove any excess wax that may have strayed outside the desired waxed area.

Check for Evenness:

  • Ensure that the wax is applied evenly across the surface to provide consistent traction.

Now your surfboard is ready for the water! Keep in mind that you may need to reapply wax periodically, depending on how often you surf and the condition of the wax on your board. If the wax becomes smooth or starts to wear off, it's time to reapply.
